“The 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International 2024” held in Xi 'an

From October 25 to 26, 2024, “the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International 2024” was held in Xi'an, which was co-hosted by Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI), Alzheimer's Disease Chinese (ADC) of Chinese Aging Well Association and Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), and organized by the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of XJTU.

On the morning of October 25, 2024, the conference officially kicked off. Yu Liping, party committee member and deputy director of Health Commission of Shaanxi Province, Chen Teng, standing party committee member of XJTU and party secretary of XJTU Health Science Center, Xie Hengge, chairman of ADC of Chinese Aging Well Association, Li Mingyi, executive president of China Health Care Association, Paola Barbarino, CEO of ADI and other experts were invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver speeches, respectively. Ma Xiancang, vice president of FAH, Han Jianfeng, vice president of FAH, Qu Qiumin, vice chairman of ADC of Chinese Aging Well Association, and Meera Pattabiraman, president of Asia-Pacific region of ADI were invited to attend the opening ceremony.

At the meeting, Tian Jinzhou, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, scientific advisor of ADC of Chinese Aging Well Association, was invited to deliver a presentation entitled "Improving dementia prevention and control system, building a solid foundation for national health", and put forward a series of policies and suggestions.

This conference gathered top-notch scholars in the field of cognitive impairment prevention and treatment at home and abroad to discuss cutting-edge research, share academic viewpoints and predict futuristic development.

With the theme of "Participation, Cooperation and Progress", this meeting aims to build a platform for experts and scholars in the field of Alzheimer's disease research, promote academic exchanges and research cooperation in this field, and further improve prevention and treatment levels of Alzheimer's disease. Besides the keynote speeches, 25 sub-forums were also set up. All experts shared academic knowledge regarding multiple hot issues entitled Study of Alzheimer's disease biomarkers, Psychological interventions for cognitive impairment, Nursing care strategies for the elderly, Progress in diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment, and Application of artificial intelligence, respectively. They discussed how to successfully apply their experiences in accordance with specific national conditions, aiming to improve the quality of life and therapeutic effect for patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Professor Qu Qiumin from Department of Neurology of FAH illustrated the development of cognitive impairment, an advantageous sub-specialty of neurology in FAH since 2007, and received widespread recognition from colleagues and peers nationwide.

The success of “the 27th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International 2024” will further strengthen international influence of cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment team from Department of Neurology, promote rapid development of the sub-specialty of cognitive impairment and effectively carry out scientific diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease in FAH.
