From July 16 to 20, 2024, with the assistance from Shaanxi International Medical Exchange Promotion Association, Vice President She Junjun from the First Affiliated hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) led a delegation of 6 experts from Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Oncology, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Department of Neurosurgery to carry out academic visits and exchange activities in Kazakhstan.

On July 17, the delegation successively visited National Research Cardiac Surgery Center of Kazakhstan and National Research Center for Cancer and Transplantation to learn about the diagnosis and treatment characteristics of tumor and cardiovascular diseases and the technical levels of organ transplantation and minimally invasive surgery, and subsequently visited Department of Cardiac Surgery ward and ICU. Bilateral sides discussed the feasibility of strengthening clinical technical exchanges, mutual visits of experts, telemedicine and staff training.

The delegation was specially invited to visit the "China-Kazakhstan Traditional Medicine Center" to understand local application and development of traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation physiotherapy, and to discuss with medical staff regarding traditional Chinese medicine staff training and academic exchanges.

On July 18, the delegation paid a visit to Astana Medical University and Kazakhstan Public Health Medical University successively. Vitaliy Koikov, Vice President of Astana Medical University, Aigul Zhunussova, Meruyert Gazaaliyeva, Assem Abrahmanova, Director of International Cooperation Center, Fatima Kadirbekova, Executive President of Kazakhstan Public Health Medical University, Advisor-to-President Marzhan Brimzhanova, Samat Zharmenov, Director of Department of Surgery, and Dana Sarsembayeva, Director of Department of International Affairs, attended the exchange meeting. Bilateral sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on cooperative education, joint training of graduate students, dual tutorial system, student exchange programs, teachers' exchange visits, international cooperation projects, the construction of Clinical Practice Training Base for Medical Students, scientific research and academic exchanges, etc. Astana Medical University and Kazakhstan Public Health Medical University hoped to sign a cooperation framework agreement with FAH.


Finally, the delegation also visited Keruen Medicus Clinic, the largest private hospital in Kazakhstan, and inspected the medical environment and hardware facilities such as delivery room, waiting room, operating room, imaging center and VIP ward, etc. Bilateral sides hoped to take this opportunity to establish close ties, promote international medical exchanges and cooperation, and achieve new concrete achievements.
