From December 1 to 3, 2023, the 26th Annual Congress of Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine, hosted by Chinese Medical Association (CMA) and Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine of CMA and organized by the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was held in Xi'an.

During the annual congress, Diagnosis and Treatment Pathway of Hereditary Angioedema in Emergency Department was officially released, which can provide guidance for emergency physicians in hospitals at all levels to understand the standardization and homogenization of hereditary sngioedema (HEA) diagnosis and treatment, and Evaluation System of Emergency Service Capability of County-level Hospitals in China was finalized and released.
In the keynote session, Chairman Lyu Chuanzhu of Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine of CMA, Chen Yuguo, former Chairman of Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine of CMA and President of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Professor Xue Wujun, Director of Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation of CMA, Professor Zhang Guoqiang from China-Japan Friendship Hospital and Chairman-designate of Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine of CMA, Professor Zhao Xiaodong, Deputy Director of Chinese Society of Emergency Medicine of CMA, Professor Zhu Yimin, Director of Chinese Society of Popular Science of CMA and Deputy Drector of Health Commission of Hunan Province, gave intriguing reports entitled Preliminary Construction Conception of Emergency Medical Rescue System Covering West China, Future of Emergency Medicine Development in China, Innovative Development of Emergency, Severe Diseases and Organ Donation and Transplantation in China, My Opinions on Emergency Discipline, Interpretation of Chinese Emergency Medicine Expert Consensus on Traumatic Hemorrhagic Shock and Healthy China Action and Exploration of Popular Science for Emergency Rescue, respectively.
Professor Hu Yongyi from Hongkong Union Hospital delivered a presentation entitled Specialist Training in Hongkong Emergency Medical College and highlighted that 10 compulsory courses, such as adult life support and pediatric life support, are offered in the training of emergency physicians to provide high-quality and safe emergency medical service.

Professor Du Junkai, Director of Emergency Center of the FAH of XJTU, gave a keynote speech entitled 5G Pre-hospital Emergency System Assists the Construction of Emergency Platform.
In the afternoon, Emergency Resuscitation Skills Competition was held, and 12 teams nationwide participated in this competition. It comprises theoretical knowledge and skill operation, involving cardiopulmonary resuscitation, AED use, balloon-assisted ventilation, interpretation and management of common arrhythmia, etc. Emergency rescue measures were carried out in a simulated environment, which vividly showcased intense atmosphere of emergency rescue scene.

In the theme forum, experts fully discussed and exchanged the frontier progress, major challenges and coping strategies of emergency rescue and emergency severe diseases in emergency department from different perspective in-person or via online video, providing valuable experience and wisdom for the development of emergency medicine.

The annual congress attracted more than 3,000 in-person participants, consisting of a main venue, 34 sub-venues and 13 theme forums, elevating the academic level to unprecedented new height.
