On May 27, 2023, Northwest Heart Failure Congress in conjunction with Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Training Course, hosted by Extracorporeal Life Support Branch of Shaanxi Association of Health Promotion and Education and Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), were successfully held. Nearly 30 experts and professors from 25 medical institutions including Fuwai Hospital of China Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University and West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Cardiovascular Disease Hospital affiliated to Xiamen University, Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, Fujian Medical University Union Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University attended the congress.
Professor Yan Yang from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the FAH, Chairman of the congress, and Professor Sun Lizhong, Honorary Chairman of the congress and President of Delta Health Hospital·Shanghai, delivered speeches, respectively.
In the keynote session, multiple experts discussed the highlights and difficulties of diagnosis and treatment of heart failure with extensive attention and challenging treatment regarding the present situation and future of left ventricular assist devices. After the lecture session, the experts discussed multiple topics including "Treatment process of acute heart failure with left ventricular assist device", "Treatment strategy of severe complications including heart rupture and ventricular septal perforation" and "Opportunity of early cardiac rehabilitation after myocardial infarction", shared clinical experience of each center, and actively promoted the improvement of diagnosis and treatment levels of heart failure by cardiovascular surgeons from primary hospitals.
Professor Wang Xianqiang and Professor Zhang Jian from Fuwai Hospital of China Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Yan Yang from the FAH, and Professor Chi Chao from the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University delivered keynote presentations entitled LVAD era of heart failure treatment in China, Advances in diagnosis and treatment of cardiogenic shock and application of auxiliary devices and Pulsatile flow mode VAD in treatment of end-stage heart failure—single-center experience, respectively.
Experts and professors brought comprehensive, three-dimensional and brand-new perspectives and concepts to cardiovascular practitioners, and promoted rapid development of heart failure diagnosis and treatment in northwest China.
Northwest Heart Failure Congress in conjunction with Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Training Course integrate the strengths of basic and clinical research, internal medicine and surgery, cardiovascular field and other related fields, which cover an array of topics including left ventricular assist device, progress on drug treatment of heart failure, synchronous treatment of left ventricle and comprehensive management of heart failure, showcasing novel technologies and novel concepts in the field of heart failure and building a communication bridge for multidisciplinary team (MDT) diagnosis and treatment of heart failure.
