On the afternoon of May 17, 2018, Professor Michael D. Apstein from Division of Gastroenterology of Harvard Medical School visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, conducted academic exchange and delivered an academic report at the invitation of the hospital. Theconference was presided over by Associate Researcher of the International Exchange Office, Ren Hui, and the clinicians, scientific researchers and postgraduates from the hospital attended the academic report conference.

Professor Apstein is a well-known clinical expert of gastroenterology, and he has made outstanding contributions in the research directions of chronic liver diseases and gallbladder diseases. During his visit, Professor Apstein delivered a wonderful academic report themed “Wine and health: a two-edged sword” and had an informal discussion with the medical science researchers ingastroenterology, infectious disease and endocrinology of the hospital.

After the conference was over, Professor Apstein visited theOutpatient Department Building, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center, wards of gastroenterology department and wards of infectious disease department in our hospital, highly affirmed and praised the infrastructure construction and advanced medical technologies and equipment of our hospital. He expressed his gratitude for warm reception and invited scholars of our hospital to visit Harvard Medical School.
