On March 17, under the special invitation of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Song Erwei, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of Health Science Center of Sun Yat-sen University and President of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, led a team to visit our hospital and provide guidance.
In the morning, Academician Song Erwei's team visited the history museum of our hospital, Biobank and cancer center laboratory for on-the-spot investigation. Academician Song Erwei fully affirmed the work of our hospital in biological samples and oncology research in recent years, and hoped that our hospital could continually give full play to high-level scientific research platform, constantly improve clinical translation and application research, and create more groundbreaking scientific research outcomes.
In the third cadre training in 2023 in conjunction with the second round of Expert Opinions on Discipline Construction, Academician Song Erwei gave an academic lecture entitled Clinical practice-oriented innovation drives development—Practice of research hospital construction. Heads of our hospital, directors and deputy directors of related disciplines, heads of administrative departments, high-level talent representatives, academic leaders and student representatives participated in the meeting both online and in-person.
Academician Song Erwei elaborated on the key factors in the construction of research hospitals, put forward in-depth thinking on how to promote innovative development of hospitals and disciplines, and analyzed the development direction of research hospitals in the future consideringdevelopment status of our hospital and offered valuable suggestions. During the discussion session, multiple heads and discipline directors of our hospital actively exchanged ideas with Academician Song Erwei regarding the development of breast discipline, training of clinical researchers and construction of National and Regional Medical Centers, which sparked in-depth and extensive thinking and inspired all participants.
In the concluding speech, Party Secretary Ma Xinge appreciated Academician Song Erwei for his intriguing and inspiring academic lecture. He hoped for in-depthbilateral cooperation, extensive exchanges and persistent learning between our hospital and Academician Song Erwei’s team. With the guidance and support of Academician SongErwei, our hospital would carry out more clinical translational research in northwest region, rapidly improve the construction level of research hospitals, achieve more fruitful construction results, and drive the construction of National Medical Center.
