Recently, Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province issued a document to announce the list of "The Belt and Road Initiative" Joint Laboratory in Shaanxi Province in 2022. "The Belt and Road Initiative" Joint Laboratory of Precision Medicine for Psychiatry" in Shaanxi Province declared by our hospital was officially approved, becoming one of the first-batch "The Belt and Road Initiative" Joint Laboratory in Shaanxi Province and also the only joint laboratory in the field of life science and medicine in Shaanxi province.

"The Belt and Road Initiative" Joint Laboratory of Precision Medicine for Psychiatry" was carefully organized and declared by Department of Science and Technology of our hospital. Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province organized experts to conduct on-site inspection and deliver high recognition regarding the preparatory work by our hospital. Professor Ma Xiancang served as Head of the joint laboratory, which depended upon Department of Psychiatry and relevant experiment platforms of our hospital, aiming to integrate the resources of advantageous disciplines, accurately analyze the genetic and gut-brain axis mechanism of psychiatry in East Asian population, promote major scientific and technological research of precise medical treatment of psychiatry, improve early diagnosis and precise treatment levels for psychiatry, and enhance medical service and support capability for psychiatry in Shaanxi province.

Under the leadership of Professor Ma Xiancang, the discipline of psychiatry of our hospital has rapidly developed in recent years. The department has successively undertaken multiple key scientific and technological projects during the 9^th, 10^th, 11^th and the 13^th Five-Year Plans, presided over 1 National Major Science and Technology Project, 1 Key Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 Outstanding Youth Scholar Foundation, more than 10 surface and youth projects, 1 second prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Shaanxi Province, 6 awards of scientific research achievements at provincial and municipal levels, and published over 100 articles in SCI-indexed journals. In recent years, the research team has created significant breakthroughs in the field of genetic and gut-brain axis mechanism of psychiatry, and successively published more than 10 academic articles in top-notched international journals, such as Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Molecular Psychiatry and Biological Psychiatry, etc.
