On the evening of November 3, 2022, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) organized the 9thsession of "Expert Opinion on Disciplinary Construction". Professor Li Qingfeng, a prestigious expert in plastic and reconstructive surgery and Vice President of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was invited to give a special lecture online. Professor Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU and President of our hospital, all leaders, middle-level cadres and core staff from each department attended the meeting online and in-person. The meeting was chaired by Vice President of our hospital Ma Xiancang.
Vice President of XJTU Lyu Yi delivered a welcome speech, hoping to deepen academic exchange and study with Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, further clarify the thinking of disciplinary construction in our hospital, promote the breakthrough in disciplinary construction and maintain high-quality development of our hospital.
Professor Li Qingfeng gave a special lecture entitled "Practice and Thinking of Disciplinary Construction in Teaching Hospital". He reviewed the development history of plastic surgery in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and deeply shared practice experience and achievements of disciplinary construction from the perspectives of the goal of disciplinary construction, construction of innovative elements, infrastructure training, and multidisciplinary construction, and provided valuable guidance and suggestions regarding disciplinary construction in our hospital. Vice President Li Qingfeng emphasized that hospitals should understand their positions in current disciplinary competition, make overall plans for the development of first-class research disciplines, grasp core elements of disciplinary construction, and closely catch up with the novel direction and ideas of disciplinary construction in the future. Besides, hospitals should also attach importance to the inheritance of disciplinary culture, internal and external motivation of talent and disciplinary development, laying a solid foundation for the development of research hospitals.
During the exchange and discussion session, Shu Maoguo, Director of Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Maxillofacial Surgery, Zhang Shaoqiang, Director of Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and Chen Xi, Director of Department of Stomatology received useful suggestions from Professor Li Qingfeng regarding top-level design of disciplinary construction, practical methods, translation of scientific and technological achievements and promotion of academic influence,etc.
In the concluding speech, President Lyu Yi proposed that directors of clinical disciplines and functional departments in our hospital should carefully learn valuable experience from Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, think deeply, widen their minds, seize historical opportunity, carry on inheritance and innovation, make overall planningand actively explore scientific methods for disciplinary development.
